ചിലപ്പോഴൊക്കെ

പടരാതിരിക്കാൻ

ആൾക്കൂട്ടത്തെ കുറച്ചു,

നിരത്തുകൾ ശാന്തമായി;

ആഡംബര തീന്മേശകളും

ഇരിപ്പിടങ്ങളും വിശ്രമം കൊണ്ടു,

പൊതുപരിപാടികളില്ലാത്ത മൈതാനങ്ങൾ

മാലിന്യമൊഴിഞ്ഞു ഭംഗിയായി കിടന്നു;

കടൽത്തീരങ്ങൾ കമിതാക്കളുടെ

കിന്നാരം കേൾക്കാതെ വിരഹതീരമായി,

തർക്കങ്ങളും പോർവിളികളുമില്ലാതെ

അന്തരീക്ഷം പ്രതീക്ഷകളും

പ്രത്യാശകളും കൊണ്ട് തണുത്തു,

കുടുംബങ്ങൾ അൽപം അടുത്തു,

ബന്ധങ്ങൾ അൽപം അറിഞ്ഞു;

ഭൂമിയുടെ മുറിവുകളുണങ്ങി തുടങ്ങി

പ്രകൃതി ശുദ്ധ വായു ശ്വസിച്ചു

ചിലപ്പോഴെല്ലാം മരണമെന്ന ഭയം

അലയടിക്കുന്നിടത്ത് മാത്രം

ഭയമൊഴിയും വരെ മനുഷ്യരെ

അവരുടെ പൂർണ്ണതകളിൽ കാണാം

തുറസായ വിസ്തൃതിയിൽ

അവനവനോട് ചേർന്നുനിൽക്കുന്ന

ബോധമുള്ള മനുഷ്യരായി കാണാം.

Vyshakh Vengilode

I identify myself in one word: 'human.' This word guides me as I grow, shaped by humanism, rationalism, secularism, scientific temper, equality, and open-mindedness. I love science and study history. I have politics, and it is reflected in my write-ups. My view on literature is that it is the exchange of human experiences, thoughts, and inexpressible emotions. I am not writing to change the world but simply to convey my thoughts. I carry my village’s name, but it’s just a name, not my identity. I feel at home everywhere, believing every place in this world is mine too.
